Dobinsons Front IFS Diff Drop Kit | Tacoma 4Runner FJ Cruiser GX470 GX460

  • Suits 2005-23 Toyota Tacoma, 2003-2024 4Runner, 2007-16 FJ Cruiser, Lexus GX470, GX460
  • Keeps CV angles at a good working angle
  • Suitable for lifts over 2.0″.  There’s really no benefit to adding them if there’s less lift than 2.0″
  • Includes all necessary hardware, including machined spacers and nuts/bolts
  • Includes 2 different lengths of the long bolts as some vehicles need them longer than others
  • Compliments Dobinsons 3″ lifts for IFS Toyota and Lexus vehicles
  • Simply remove the front skid plate, remove the 2 long bolts at the front of the diff, install the spacers and long bolts supplied, install the skid plate spacers and longer bolts supplied while reinstalling the skid plate
  • Note: Some aftermarket skid plates have spacers built-in so the small spacers aren’t necessary, and some skid plates may use larger bolts to install it to the vehicle, requiring modification to the supplied spacers

Description

Diff Drop Kit DD59-527K – Dobinsons front differential drop kit for 2005-23 Toyota Tacoma and , 2003-2024 4Runner, 2007-16 FJ Cruiser, Lexus GX470, GX460.

This is strongly recommended when lifting these IFS vehicles more than 2.5″, as it rotates down the front side of the differential carrier to help correct the drive-line CV angles, reducing wear on those.

May or may not work with some factory and/or aftermarket skid plates, due to the lowering of the differential housing. It does come with skid plate spacers, but some choose to not reinstall the skid plate after lowering the differential.

Comes with all necessary hardware, all as pictured.

Why should I use one?  When lifting a 4×4 vehicle, the CV angles will be increased.  This puts more angle on your CV boots as well, and when the bellows of the CV boot constantly touch each other, that friction will cause them to wear out faster and most likely wear through faster.  Having a torn CV boot is a pain in the next to replace and also quite a messy job too, so reducing the CV angles with a good Drop Kit in place will help alleviate some of the angles when lifted.

Is there another reason to add a differential drop kit?  Yes, some longer travel front struts, such as some that Dobinsons offer, reach to an extended length that the CV joints can actually start to bind when they are at full droop.  This will cause extreme wear on your CV joints themselves very quickly whenever the strut is at full droop.  Adding a diff drop kit normally alleviates this issue and allows you to have the additional droop, while not causing the CV’s to bind.  This reason here is the MAIN REASON why Exit Offroad recommends a diff drop kit when using longer travel front struts, as it’s a lot less expense than replacing both front CV axles due to broken CV’s.
