Dobinsons Spring & Suspension 4° Caster Plate kit for the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 series from 9/1999 onwards, suits 71 Series, 76 Series, 78 Series and 79 Series, used when vehicle lift height is 3″ to 5″. With that amount of lift, caster bushings cannot provide enough caster to properly align the front end of the vehicle, so using the proper Caster Plate for your suspension will give you the best caster angle.
This castor kit utilizes the combination of castor bushes and castor plates to rotate the axle to provide the caster correction required for lifts between 3 and 5 inches whilst ensuring there is sufficient clearance between the OEM tie rod and radius arms.
This is a bolt in kit and requires a press to remove the Genuine radius arm front bushes and replace with the supplied offset bushes. This kit also requires a very small amount of grinding of the diff housing radius arm mounting plates.
Caster angle plays a major part in vehicle straight line stability and helps the steering to return to center. If the vehicle’s suspension has been raised, the required positive caster angle is reduced and the caster angle moves closer to zero, impairing the vehicles steering stability. A wheel alignment done by a reputable 4×4 wheel alignment center can determine whether caster correction is required.

For suspension lift kits between 3″ and 5″ caster correction is required, and also adjustable panhard rods are highly recommended. For customers wanting to maximize the off-road performance extended sway bar links and extended brake lines are also recommended. Extending the vehicles bump stops and driveshaft modification may also be required depending on the application.
For suspension lift kits exceeding 90mm/3.5″ considerable alignment parts are required. Caster correction, adjustable panhard rods, sway bar extensions, extended bump stops, extended brake lines, gearbox spacing, driveshaft modification, adjustable/modified rear trailing arms and adjustable steering arm modifications are required along with other driveline, suspension and steering modifications which may also be required.
